Stage I-English Typing Test

• A 10-minute typing test on computers will be used to gauge candidates’ ability to type in English at a minimum speed of 40 words per minute.
• The “characters with space” standard will be used to determine typing speed, and the maximum number of typos that are allowed is 3% of the total amount of words typed.
• Only the successful/qualified applicants of Stage-I, i.e., English Typing Test will be called for the next level of Examination, i.e., Stage – II (English Shorthand Tests).

Stage II- English Shorthand Tests

• Words per minute of 110. The passage of 550 words will be dictated in five (5) minutes’ time. Applicants will have 45 minutes to type the passage that was dictated on computers. There won’t be any extra time allotted for reading the passage.
• The maximum amount of errors that would be permitted would be 3% of the words that were dictated, or sixteen and a half (16.5). Each full mistake will result in a deduction of six (6) marks, and each half (12) mistake will result in a deduction of three (3) marks. Candidates who make errors worth sixteen and a half (16.5) will only receive one (1) mark. Applicants who make more than 16.5 errors will be eliminated.
• Each candidate will have the chance to take part in two shorthand dictation transcription exams, with the results of the best two being taken into consideration. Only those who have passed or qualified for Stage-II (English Shorthand Tests) and who are up to six times the number of vacancies announced in each category (i.e., Gen/EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD) will be invited to move on to Stage-III (Final Examination) (Main – Descriptive Examination).

Stage III- Mains (Descriptive) Examination

• Essay (250 words – 40 Marks), Letter Writing (15 Marks), Grammar & Comprehension Passage (25 Marks), and Translation would make up the Main (Descriptive) Test of English (from Hindi to English – 10 Marks & English to Hindi – 10 Marks).
• The minimum passing score for candidates in the General Category will be 50% (50 out of 100), while the minimum passing score for candidates in the Reserved Category (including PwD) will be 45%. (i.e., 45 Marks out of 100 Marks).
• Only those who have passed or qualified for Stage-III (the Main “Descriptive” Examination) and have the necessary qualifications (i.e., Gen/EWS/OBC NCL/SC/ST/PwD) will be invited to the next step of the examination, which is the Interview.

Stage-IV (Interview) (Interview)

• Candidates in the General Category must get a minimum of 10 points, while those in the Reserved Category (including PwD) must earn a minimum of 9 points.
